Local dial-up numbers are available throughout most area of the United States.
Can I check my e-mail from a computer that doesn't have mFire software?
Yes, Internet based mail, or web mail, is available and it is accessed by launching a browser while connected to the Internet (even through another ISP) and proceeding to webmail.mfire.com. Enter your username and password to access your mail account.
How much storage does my email account include?
Each mailbox can hold up to 100MB. This includes any messages stored in the Inbox, Sent mail or other folders. This limit applies to the Webmail. If you use an email client such as Outlook Express, your messages are downloaded from our server and stored on your own PC, so you don't have to worry about these server limits.
Does mFire offer its members the ability to create their own Web page(s)?
Members can access the Internet to setup their own blog or website, but mFire doesn't provide these services. You can go to free services such as Blogger.com and Blog.com to create your own weblog, or go to places like MySpace and Facebook to create a personal web page. (In the past, free webspace was offered to our members through RedGap Networks, but that is no longer available.)
Do you offer unlimited internet access?
The industry standard definition of unlimited access is providing at least 150 hours per month of connect time. If a person is using the connect time personally, without sharing their account with others or using automated means to maintain a connection when they are not there, this is essentially unlimited time for most people.
According to this definition, we offer unlimited access, since our terms of use set the limit at 150 hours. In practice we provide much more, since we generally send email warnings after a user passes 200 hours of usage, and suspend accounts that pass 300 hours of usage in a month. (Suspended accounts remain suspended until the rolling 30 day usage history drops below 300 hours.) As long as you take breaks from the internet for eating and sleeping, you likely won't use enough to have your account suspended. However, using automatic software to maintain a 24 hour connection is prohibited, and will cause you to exceed 300 hours of usage.
Although we allow you to access any sites you want and practically let you browse as long as you want, there are some limits to what is acceptable. For example, sending unsolicited email (SPAM), conducting illegal activities, or commiting fraud are not allowed on our service.
How do you invoice me for my Internet service?
To set-up your mFire account, we accept VISA and MasterCard (including Check Cards). If you do not wish to pay via credit card, we also accept electronic checks. You will be charged each month for the next month's service on the anniversary date of your enrollment. We do not send invoices or accept payment via postal mail.
Is there a banner ad bar?
No. With mFire your Internet access is direct and free of mFire advertising. (There is no banner ad bar, but of course when you visit web sites they may have their own advertising.) We never use pop up ads or email for marketing to our customers, like some other ISPs do. We also never sell your personal information to anyone.
